The Hurricanes had not won an away game during the 2022 Stanley Cup playoffs entering Game 6 against the Rangers on Saturday. That remains the case after Game 6.

New York grabbed a 5-2 victory Saturday at Madison Square Garden to force a Game 7 in the second-round series. The Rangers chased Hurricanes goalie Antti Raanta, who allowed two bad goals in the first and another to start the second.

Filip Chytil had two goals while Tyler Motte, Mika Zibanejad and Artemi Panarin had a goal each for New York. Brady Skjei and Vincent Trocheck tallied for Carolina. Igor Shesterkin was fantastic, making 37 saves in the win and . He isthe fifth goalie in NHL history with two a sists in a playoff game.

The Hurricanes dropped to 0-6 in road games this postseason, but they're heading home to Raleigh for Monday night's winner-take-all contest. They are 7-0 at PNC Arena this postseason.

The two teams will play in another Game 7 after both squads went the distance in their respective first-round series. The Hurricanes defeated the Bruins while the Rangers erased a 3-1 series deficit to take down the Penguins.

10:37 p.m.:End of the game, and the Rangers hang on for the victory. Another contest where they were out-shot but thanks to a couple of weak goals by Raanta to start and stellar play by Shesterkin, we will have a Game 7.

10:37 p.m.:Sebastian Aho off for rouging so New York heads to another power play. They're 2-for-4 tonight.

10:26 p.m.:Couple of more penalties getting dolled out here. First it's Miller getting called for tripping then it's Tony DeAngelo flipping the puck at the net after the whistle, which the Rangers did not take too lightly and it results in an unsportsmanlike conduct call. 4 on 4 once again.

10:23 p.m.:Another great glove save by Shesterkin on a spinning attempt by Trocheck. Scrum ensues after K'Andre Miller caves in Trocheck from behind after his shot attempt. Both get called for roughing. It's getting tense at MSG.

10:18 p.m.: GOAL!Rangers capitalize on their brief 5 on 3 with a goal by Panarin. Kreider cuts to the net, but dumps it off to the slot. Panarin collects, waits and beats Kochetkov five-hole. 5-2 Rangers lead with 12 minutes to go.

10:12 p.m.: Play goes to 4 on 4 as Artemi Panarin is called for hooking.

10:09 p.m.:Early power play in the third for the Rangers as Slavin gets called for a double minor for high-sticking. Slavin was going for a puck in the air, mi sed and whacked Kreider in the face. 4-minute power play for New York.

10:05 p.m.: Third period is here, Rangers are 20 minutes away from forcing a Game 7 on Monday.

9:44 p.m.:End of the 2nd, Rangers still hold a two-goal lead. Hurricanes sticking around and controlling the majority of play, but not by much. Rangers have taken advantage of their opportunities and Shesterkin has been excellent.

9:40 p.m.: Hurricanes pouring on the pre sure in the offensive zone, but Rangers are able to fight it off for now. However, Shesterkin gets whistled for interference after stepping out of his crease to collide with Jarvis. It's been all Carolina in these final few minutes of the middle frame.

9:38 p.m.:Mini breakaway for Chytil, but solid pad save by Kochetkov. Chytil looking for the hat trick.

9:37 p.m.:Rangers kill off the Kreider penalty, but not without a dangerous opportunity for Carolina. Shesterkin gets bailed out by the Rangers' defense after falling to hold a shot that hit him in the glove. Under five minutes to go in the 2nd.

9:34 p.m.:Right off the face off from the Trocheck goal, Kreider called for hooking. Carolina with a chance to cut it to a one-goal game.

9:33 p.m.: GOAL!Vincent Trocheck cleans up the trash in front of the crease and the lead is cut to two yet again. Trocheck sends the puck ob net as he's falling and the puck banks off Lindgren Trey Sermon Jerseys and in between Shesterkin's legs.

9:32 p.m.:Interesting note: not only has Shesterkin been stellar in the crease, he is credited with two a sists in the game as well. He has three this postseason.

Igor Shesterkin is the 5th goalie in playoff history with 2 a sists in a single game.He's the first Rangers goalie with 2+ a sists in ANY game since Mike Richter on Oct. 29, 1992 vs the Quebec Nordiques.

9:25 p.m.:Another great chance for the Rangers, but Kochetkov stays strong in the crease. Bad turnover by the Canes behind their own net leads to an opportunity for Ryan Lindgren to stuff it by Kochetkov, but no dice this time.

9:22 p.m.: GOAL!It's Chytil again. Comes out from the corner and sends a backhand whistling over the shoulder of Kochetkov. Lead is back to three for New York.
